Google is losing the search war.
Marketers have been aware of this for a long time, but it's only recently that Google has started to feel the full force of this shift.
Google search is one of the most widely used search engines in the world. Its been helping people find answers to their queries and access information for over two decades. However, ChatGPT is challenging the status quo. ChatGPT is powered by artificial intelligence (AI) and natural language processing (NLP) technology and is designed to answer questions posed in natural language. This technology makes ChatGPT a powerful alternative to Google search for users looking for a more personalised search experience. ChatGPT is more interactive than traditional search engines and can provide answers to complex questions in real time. Furthermore, it allows users to engage in dialogue with the search engine to get more accurate answers to their queries. In this way, ChatGPT is revolutionizing the way people access information on the internet.
The search engine giant that has monopolized the internet for years, is now seeing a decline in its user base. This is quite surprising, considering the dominance of Google's search engine over other competitors. But why is Google losing? There are a few key reasons why this is happening, from competition from other search engines to a lack of innovation. It's important to take a closer look at these reasons to understand why Google is losing its hold on the industry and how it can regain its former standing. By understanding the causes and effects of Google's decline, it will be possible to make the necessary changes to return Google to its former glory.
So why is Google losing ?
The reason is simple: Google has spread itself too thin trying to compete with other companies. They've created too many products, which has limited their ability to focus on their main product -- the search engine. This is something that happens to massive companies like google, where they lose sight of their core business proposition. The google search engine was becoming redundant since a while now, not to mention the incessant ads, on the search results, users were getting frustrated, having to go through all that information and still unable to find what they were looking for.
Google's mission - to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful, was something that they didn't realise they were not delivering on, for its users in recent years.
Finding the correct information, the correct authentic sources was only drowning in the sponsored ads of the search engine. Right when users, were feeling the need for a better more efficient way of accessing the correct information, lo and behold - enter chatGPT.
ChatGPT's entry into the market was exactly at the right time. Which lead to the markets going crazy over chatgpt and wallstreet hungry to invest in AI and AI lead businesses.
According to recent reports from Statista and CB Insights, Microsoft and Amazon are taking the lead in AI-related industries right now.
Google needs to get back on track by focusing on its core business: providing users with relevant information and answers when they need them most (i.e., through search).
let's also not forget, how microsoft bing plans to add chatgpt as a personal AI search assistant on their search engine. This is something that google should have foreseen, and moved in this space beforehand, to secure and maintain its position as the best search engine.
I think that why they say - to keep your enemies closer.
Google's position as an industry leader is slipping, for now. With the rise of other search engines, as well as the emergence of new players in the tech industry, such as Amazon and Apple, Google is starting to face increased competition. In addition, its data collection and privacy policies have come under scrutiny, leading to a decline in public trust. As a result, Google's presence in the tech world is waning, and the company must take action if it is to remain competitive. But all is not lost, google has various products under its belt, and a vast marketshare. In terms of AI, google may not be far behind, considering how only a few months ago, a google engineer was fired, for proclaiming, google's LAMBDA AI was sentient and wanted human rights for the AI. For all we know, the best is yet to come.
